What thirty-four winters on Railway Street taught us about this job.

Every long weekend from May to September, the trailers come out of the yards along Highway 2A and head for the lake, and every one of them has tires that sat all winter. Trailer tires age out before they wear out: five or six years, sun and cold cycles, and the sidewall goes regardless of tread. Work trucks are the other half of the fleet around here: half-tons and three-quarter-tons that spend the week on gravel and the weekend on Highway 2, which is exactly the mix that a passenger-rated tire in a truck size cannot take. Load rating first, tread pattern second, is the rule, and it holds whether you run one unit or twenty.
