Alberta allows studs year-round, but the pavement does not thank you for it, so studs make sense for drivers who spend real time on ice and gravel: the county roads west of Okotoks, the Highway 7 and 22 corridor, and anywhere the chinook cycle glazes a hill. On the dry Highway 2 commute a modern studless winter tire is quieter and stops just as well. The honest rule of thumb from the counter: if your winter driving is mostly town and highway, save the money; if it involves a gravel road every day, studs are the cheapest insurance you will buy.

Can you stud my existing winter tires?

Only if they are new, unused and moulded for studs. A tire that has been driven cannot be studded safely.

How long does it take?

Longer than a changeover, because each tire is studded by hand. Ask when you book and we give you a time.
