FAQ // OKOTOKS & THE FOOTHILLS

Straight Answers

What tire brands do you carry?

Fourteen major brands, from Michelin, Bridgestone and Continental at the premium end through Hankook, Toyo, General and Cooper in the middle to Hercules and Uniroyal on value. If we do not have a line on the shelf we order it in, usually within a day or two. The full list is on our brands page.

Do I need an appointment?

Appointments are recommended and in October and April they are close to essential, because the whole Foothills books at once. Outside those windows we take walk-ins whenever the bay is open, and we can often do a repair the same day.

How often should I rotate my tires?

Every 8,000 to 10,000 km, or simply at every seasonal changeover, which lands in about the right window for most drivers here. Regular rotation is also what protects a manufacturer tread-life warranty.

When should I switch to winter tires in Alberta?

When daytime highs settle below 7°C, which in Okotoks is usually the middle of October. Our guide to the switch covers the calendar and the chinook trap in both directions.

Do you store tires?

Yes. We chalk-mark the set, rack it in our climate-controlled warehouse and have it waiting in the bay when you book the changeover. Plenty of our out-of-town customers take it.

Can you reset or reprogram my TPMS?

Yes, for all makes and models. Reset, reprogram and relearn, plus sensor replacement and the service kits that go with a dismount.

Do you do more than tires?

Yes. Brakes, shocks and struts, steering and suspension, wheel bearings and drivetrain. A tire cannot fix a car that is bouncing or pulling, so we fix both.

What is the difference between all-season and all-weather tires?

An all-weather tire carries the three-peak mountain snowflake and is rated for severe snow; an all-season is not. In Alberta that is the difference that matters, and our comparison guide walks through it.

How long does a tire change take?

About 45 minutes for a wheel-to-wheel changeover and about an hour for a mount and balance on four. Booking ahead is what keeps it to that.

Can you help me choose the right tires?

That is the part we like. Tell us what you drive, where you drive it and what you want out of the set, and we will give you the honest answer, including when the cheaper tire is the right one.
